Hair Length Guide

The length of the hair you select will always be based on the straight length of the hair. However, just like with your own coils, the curled up nature of the strands masks the straightened length of the hair.

Depending on the tightness of the curl, the hair can be between 10-70% shorter than its straightened length. The tighter the natural curl pattern of the hair, the shorter it will look at any given length when compared to straight hair.

*approximate shrinkage according to curl type.

Our Press'd bundle are both buildable and blend-able, helping you achieve your desired custom look easily and seamlessly. Sew-in, u-part or half-up half-down... take your pick!

Why it's special

It's Double Drawn, so over 75% of the hairs used in each set of Ruka extensions are true to the advertised length (unlike the industry standard single drawn extensions at 50%+/-). This means the hair is more consistent in volume from top to bottom, will tangle less, lasts longer, and just looks better.

It has the Ruka Quality Guarantee - every single bundle that makes it into your hands has passed through an extensive in-house quality assessment to ensure what you receive is nothing short of the best, period.

It's texture has been created with the science in mind, for the best texture accuracy you can find. Totally unclockable, totally you. It's also virgin human hair, so you can wash it and treat it like you really do own it!
The hair in each bundle has been wefted with great care to create a clean finish, with minimal shedding.

Elizabeth wears 3x 24" Press'd Bundles with a 22" 5*5 Closure.

Please note this product is not a full wig - this is a bundle that can be used with closures to create a wig!

FAQS

How long will my extensions last?

Ruka sources 100% human hair, which is prone to the same shedding and tangling that our own hair would experience, especially as curlier hair requires regular detangling. With the right TLC, human hair retains its like-new quality for around 6-9 months with daily installation.

This means that with the right care:

- Wearing your Ruka hair regularly will make it last approximately 1 year.

- Wearing your Ruka hair less often (several times a month or year, even) will have it last at least 2 years.

Getting the most longevity out of human hair extensions means avoiding overly frequent or excessive heat and chemicals like dyeing/bleaching. Generally, treating your Ruka extensions with the same love you would do your own hair is key.

You will receive instructions via email or by scanning the QR code on your package on how to maintain your Ruka hair extensions, and our    has a great selection of tutorials, guidance and style inspo to get the best out of your extensions✨

Can I sleep with my extensions?

You sure can, though we’d recommend using a silk/satin bonnet or silk/satin scarf to preserve the quality, hair health and longevity of your extensions whilst you sleep.

If you're likely to forget to put on a satin bonnet, a satin pillowcase is a great alternative to help maintain the quality of your extensions and prevent any unnecessary tangle, shedding or matting caused by sleeping in your extensions.

Can I swim with my extensions?

Absolutely - just be sure to take care of your extensions afterwards by carefully rinsing the chlorine/salt water out and applying a good deep conditioning treatment. This is important because salt water and chlorine can impact the quality of your extensions, stripping them of essential moisture that can lead to a loss of softness and shine, as well as increased matting/tangling.

Can the hair be dyed?

The short answer is yes. However, keep in mind that colouring human hair extensions requires the same TLC as colouring your own hair, and any dyeing you do is at your own risk.

Whenever you apply a light colour dye, the hair is slightly damaged in the process and can suffer loss of curl pattern/hair loss. This is because the chemical process of lightening hair means you are removing proteins and melanin from the hair, which weakens it.

For best results, we recommend giving it over to a professional who is familiar with colouring curly and coily hair, to ensure that your hair is under the best care.

Can the hair be straightened?

Yes it absolutely can - straightened, curled, blown out - you name it. Just like our own hair, your extensions are susceptible to heat damage and loss of curl pattern, so we recommend applying a heat protectant to preserve the hair health if you are going to apply heat tools.

We have designed our textures to give you the full range of hair states with ease. For example, we love that Think Kink can be straightened to give a fluffy Press’d vibe but revert back to its kinks. However, if you know you want to straighten your Think Kink  every day  it’s probably best to just get Press’d so as to not over process your Think Kink hair (and to save some time in straightening it!). Or of course you can do like us and get both for ultimate range and ease!

How much do I need for a full head?

Our Bundles range from 100g to 140g and are double-drawn. This means that over 75% of the hairs in each set of Ruka extensions are true to the advertised length and more consistent in volume from top to bottom (unlike the industry-standard single-drawn extensions).

We recommend 2 bundles for a standard sew-in , but you may wish to use 3 depending on how full/voluminous your desired finish is. To create a wig, we recommend 3 bundles and a closure.

Our Clip-in sets range from 160 - 180g and 1 set ( always a minimum of 8 pieces ) is designed to cover a full head with a finger-width of leave out for a natural boost of volume . If you’re after a much fuller look, and especially if purchasing stretched textures in 18” and above, you may want to consider getting 2 sets. Please take a look at the 'Product Specs' listed on each product page for the specific weight of that item, as these will vary by length.

How do I choose a hair texture?

Great question! If you’re purchasing products that need blending (e.g. clip-ins, or bundles for a leave out sew-in), you’ll probably want to go with a texture that closely matches your own hair.  If you’re going for a ponytail, though, the blend doesn’t matter so much, as you’ll likely be holding your hair down. Unless of course, you’re looking for a “my hair but tied up” look. Have a look at our Instagram for some inspiration! If you’re still not sure, send us an email at help@rukahair.com or drop us a message on Instagram. We’d be happy to help!
